Motors.co.uk Marketing & Business Intelligence Director Dermot Kelleher said: 

"Prior to the tournament we predicted that a quarter-final match involving England could have a potential impact on used car search volumes as consumers deviated from their normal routine to watch the fixture.

"Our hour-by-hour web analytics data from Saturday tells a really interesting story of three distinct day parts and corresponding online behaviour.

"Pre-match, unique users to Motors.co.uk were tracking up +16% relative to the same Saturday last year. However, during the match itself, between 3pm and 5pm, unique users were down -12% YoY, before rising +10% above last year's levels post-game.

"We would expect to see a very similar pattern this Wednesday evening, but can reassure dealers noticing similar effects on their own website traffic that the volume will quickly return post-match."
